After some discussion with Liam, I've now settled on calling the new Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay FFG WFRP, superseding GW WFRP and GR WFRP. An edition number would not be applicable as it is essentially a new system, and an n- prefix would not be applicable as it is based around the same setting. Rather, in the mode of Star Wars, go by company. Or ruleset if the rulesets are separately named, which they largely are for Star Wars but aren't for WFRP.

This is not to be seen as a declaration of edition war, merely semantic grumpiness on my part.

This has been a public service announcement. Keep calm and carry on.

How is FFG's gaming pedigree? We know WFRP will be going through a shocking change in system, but that doesn't imply it will be bad (or good for that matter).

They've produced a fine bunch of books for GR WFRP after the Black Industries licence ended, are to release Rogue Trader - as books - and otherwise make right nice boardgames and nothing much RPG-wise.

They made the Twilight Imperium RPG a fair while back. It was pretty basic, though I did learn that Sarween Tools (a very nifty tech advance in the original board game) are in fact... some really nicely made tools. Rock.

I find that oddly comforting.
