Like S P A C E D? Like Shaun Of The Dead? Like Hot Fuzz? Like Scott Pilgrim? Like the quiet English village SF apocalypses of John Wyndham and their influence on Quatermass and Doctor Who? You'll probably like The World's End.

Also probably the only film where the end credits soundtrack is split between the Housemartins and The Sisters Of Mercy.

The soundtrack does rather reflect my life...

And I hadn't heard the term "whitey-ed" in years. Not since my own high school days.

... Yikes.

Back in black, I hit the sack...

Back in red, I wake the dead...

Back in purple, I... uh... damn it.

The Sleepover

Winner of The Cabin In The Woods short film contest.

That should tell you a fair bit about it.

The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists! is very silly and rather charming. Seeing the models moving around in 3D is cute too. And so many sight gags in the background that will be unreadably little even on Blu-Ray. Go see.

Trailers: Streetdance 2, Ice Age 4(?) and Hotel Transylvania.

It's lovely, funny, charming, made just right. If not for four familiar faces, the conceit of being a restored forgotten classic would work perfectly except when they purposely break it.

And I totally want to see the dashing pulp adventure movies George Valentin didn't really make. The Mythic City is going into my Adventure! title pile, and Uggie the dog may be a major NPC.

The only candidate who makes sense. Also a swearing Henson puppet.

Ghostbusters is still awesome.

Although I still think the "er, what do we do?" ending's the weak point of the whole show (along with the none-more-80s Gozer). Hm. Something with Peter reaching Dana and interrupting the ritual that way instead? Not that they were really that close. And it must still lead to a massive explosion and tons of molten marshmallow, obviously.

And it seems to have gone up a rating, being a 12A now.

And I still want a PKE Meter.

Trailers: Immortals looks enormously silly, The Phantom Menace 3D rerelease trailer is rather less wow in a non-3D screening and they really do cut Jar-Jar out entirely, and I'm sure there was another one.

And in other news, Charlie Brooker is creating an SF show. Coo.

Attack The Block by Joe Cornish. Hopefully this trailer will be up in front of Battle: LA next week.

"This is a true story, apart from the bits that aren't."

It's a comedy, not a history lesson. And still more accurate than fucking Braveheart.

Many, many comedy accents of variable quality, plenty of horrible jokes, and Michael Winner being murdered. What's not to like?

The choice of song for the end made me roar with laughter for person-specific reasons.

Trailers: Paul as seems only proper, Monsters, Geoffrey Rush in Cowboys Versus Ninjas or something.

Inspired by the thought "if Facebook can have a movie..."

This really needs a mouseover comment of some sort, doesn't it?

Evil Dead II, tomorrow night at the Cameo. HELL yes.
