Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] tanithm:

Set your mp3 player up to shuffle through all the tracks in your hard disk. Report what the first ten are. Why? I dunno, it reveals something about taste or something.

Placebo, Every You Every Me
Juliet Turner, Broken Things
Lucky 7, December
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Once More With Feeling, See You In Hell
Joy Division, Love Will Tear Us Apart
Celldweller, I Believe You
Radiohead, Creep
Estrangel, Falls Apart (Final)
Ash, Orpheus
Static-X, Bled For Days

My list

It's got 13 tracks in it because I skipped over 2 tracks and the mp3 player skipped over one (it's not the most reliable player out there but it was cheap):

U2 - Last Night On Earth
Pearl Jam - Low Light
Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
4 Non Blondes - Train
Radiohead - Climbing up the Walls (skipped, not in the mood)
Eels - 3 Speed
Live - Run to the Water (MP3 player skipped)
Live - Deep Enough (remix)
Faith No More - Everything's Ruined
The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So
Rolling Stones - Losing My Touch (skipped - I don't like it but it's on 40 Licks)
R.E.M. - At My Most Beautiful
Rolling Stones - Paint it Black

I think the list says as much about the randomiser on my mp3 player as it does about my tastes. For example, I only have one Stones compilation on my player yet it gets 3 tracks?

I have an additional adjunct to your original question: how many of the tracks are legitimate/paid for? For me it's 100%, though I had a taped copy of U2's Pop before I actually bought the CD...

Skipped still counts.

Placebo: bought and paid for
Juliet Turner: bought and paid for after I downloaded it and a few others
Lucky 7: MP3.com (how we miss you)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: bought and paid for
Joy Division: bought and paid for
Celldweller: free on the artist's official site, here (http://www.celldweller.com)
Radiohead: bought and paid for
Estrangel, Falls Apart (Final): free from here (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/estrangelmusic.htm)
Ash: live bootleg from Ash-Unoffical (http://www.ash-unofficial.com/main.htm) - the studio version is apparently on the next album
Static-X: bought and paid for after DLing to listen to them

I wonder what Oliver's would be like? Full of purloined showtunes probably...
