I had a dropout in my game. This naturally sent me into a panic, like this always does. He pretty much did the "it's not you, it's me" speech as well.
Naturally, it was the player of the character who's by far the most normal for the setup, the norm from which the rest deviate. So he's sticking around as an NPC for occasional exposition and sarcastic asides (not that I don't already have one for each) while I ponder recruiting another player if someone's willing to play an equally central-cog-in-the-wheel character.
