Clocking in at nineteen minutes, The Wile E. Coyote Style Cannibal Island Distraction is definitely too long, and having two lengthy Will Rolls Around Through The Jungle Trapped In Something scenes is perhaps overdoing it. But it still made me laugh a fair ol' bit, I had more time to admire just how good Davy Jones actually is, and there was post-film debate as to the meaning of the compass pointing a certain way...

The compass stuff was particularly interesting before they found the chest, and I was kinda hoping they'd stretched that stuff out a bit longer. It made for an interesting dilemma: if Elizabeth decides she prefers Jack Sparrow over Will Turner, she loses her chance to save either man by finding the chest. And this is partly because Sparrow hasn't revealed his own reasons for wanting to find it.

I'd point out the picture of the key actually contains all the information necessary to replicate it, put I presume there's some mystical reason this can't be done.

Yeah, when Jack originally showed it to Will, I was thinking he'd want Will (who is, lest we forget, a blacksmith when he's not pirating) to make him a replica. But as you say, probably only a key that smells like sushi would work, or something.
