At chez Ian and Nicola we were able to watch the Global Frequency pilot.

I can kind of see why it wasn't picked up. It's a lot of fun, but very dark in places (while highly optimistic in others), Warren Ellis-ly cynical about all kinds of things, makes the NSA look semi-competent and kinda evil as opposed to highly efficient (and kinda evil) like their usual appearances.

As a fan of the originals, I think it adapted to TV right nice, with the obvious "explain what's going on" section. I'd have liked it more if "We just got insanely lucky" hadn't been a valid line due to a handy coincidence introducing our made-for-TV hero, and his partner hadn't been the Pretty Blonde Scientist In Glasses quite as much. Although her arrival on the scene worked very well.

Michelle Forbes makes Miranda Zero work like a charm, although they might have overdone the Trinity-style shinies and beatings. Aimee Garcia as Aleph is funny and cute, and I wonder if she would have buzzed her hair if the series was picked up.

It wasn't perfect, but it felt right, made me laugh in places, hit notes I wouldn't have expected to see on TV... and it leaking out online and building a following seems rather apt.

And darn, I'd like to see more.
