Blade: The Series just finished its belated Freeview run Saturday night, and... yeah, it could reasonably be described as a damp squib.

Rambling and mostly snarky, but bear in mind I watched every episode. Contains spoilers, mentioned even though the show is four years old. )

(Also Saturday night, we had the season finale of Merlin. Much better swordfights all round. Great Smallville game using Pendragon as a sourcebook to riff off.)

After several weeks of "illegal" Remake/Remodel threads, this week's R/R is the ultimate free out-of-copyright character, Jenny Everywhere. Created eight years ago as an open source Creative Commons character and universe, a dimension-hopping comedy-adventurer type. And there have been a few results thus far, but it hasn't as of this writing gone insane like, say, the Thirteenth Doctor or Steampunk Batman or Malcolm McLaren's JLA.

Perhaps because there isn't a big universe or a body of notable stories and stuff about her to bounce off, or perhaps because she's a character who exists to be remade and remodelled. Or maybe it's the hook that means anything is possible so it doesn't funnel people towards particular ideas. After all, unlike the last anything-is-possible guy, she doesn't have forty-seven years of stuff to bring in, or Daleks.
