As a fan I'm delighted, although as a jaded media cynic I'm also aware that, according to the Academy, this makes it slightly less a film than the equally-successful and more-nominated Ben Hur and Titanic. Right...
And no Supporting Actor nom for Andy Serkis. Or Sir Ian McKellen. Or Sean Astin.
And no Oscar for Bill Murray. Or Johnny Depp. Yes, Sean Penn was great so that ain't so bad.
Ah well. Roll on next year's Empire Awards.
