The Vexed Doctor
Well, now that I'm sure to mess Grab New Players Day at GEAS I naturally have some more viable game ideas. Like an Icons game where the PCs are among the first Golden Age superheroes, and get to define what their superhero universe is like.
But blah. Also thinking about whether I'm really cruel enough to inflict me playing the Doctor on Matt's poor unsuspecting Doctor Who game.
And if I am, who to cast as the Doctor...
Logical: Nobody In Particular
David Tennant and Matt Smith have really complicated matters by being obscure beforehand and rollicking good. So how does one follow that...
Done: Richard Coyle
Spot-on, as already demonstrated by Emprint among other people.
Obvious: Andrew Lee Potts
Too obvious by half.
Old: Simon Russell Beale
An old Doctor is pretty easy - we're overflowing with character actors and I had a much easier time casting grown-up Watchers than young ones in The Watch House. I could probably manage thirteen regenerations' worth of old Doctors, but not so good for the running.
American: Joseph Gordon-Levitt
But, y'know, American. I believe I could legally be hanged for treason.
Female: Sue Perkins
A shoo-in for the Tenth Doctor of Reverse Gender Universe. Not terribly helpful right now, though. (Obviously she regenerates into Jaime Winstone.)
Nepotistic: Sam Troughton
Might help if I saw him in something other than the inexcusable Robin Hood this pic came from.
So, y'know, none of these people. Although I have just cast my "the Doctor gets zapped and split into six different playable characters" convention game...

By the way, I just picked up Icons (and Dresden Files) at BLG today. Nice artwork, great character gen, playable (if vague) system. Already looks a lot better than Wild Talents (sorry, but ORE is not for me).

I'd have cast Paterson Joseph myself. Brian Cox also expressed an interest in the role, and it would be nice to see a proper older Doctor again. Sue Perkins though... I could see that.

Man, I could have so much fun with running Doctor Who through my off-the-wall-lense... too bad nobody around here knows anything at all about the show or the actors to enjoy it.
