M-O-O-N. That spells "Not Angel"...
So thanks to the wonders of streaming video and Taiwan's views on copyright, I have seen Moonlight. And...
Y'know how Hyperdrive feels like the show the Red Dwarf was a reaction to even though it was made later? Same here.
It felt like a show that would have been okay (but not great) if it had predated Angel but looks like it hasn't learned anything from it except sweeping-around-LA helicopter shots.
The opening suggests a much more interesting and distinct show could be happening, then it turns out that nope, it ain't.
NotAngel is... well, I think he'd be good in a romantic comedy.
Sophia's fine, made me smirk a couple times, mostly intentionally but also when her accent falls off completely as they leave the funeral.
Prince Jason Dohring is mildly amusing.
Least convincing 80s flashback in quite some time. 1880s I would have believed.
If phoney-professor-Dracula's cult turns out to have a basis in reality later on, as possibly hinted by the five-century-old artefacts he stole his designs from, that could be interesting. But I suspect that might happen about ten episodes after the series is shut down.
Also... could you at least have not given him Angel's car?!
