Conpulsion. It's nine weeks to it. Aaagh.
So about time to come up with the all-important "hey you, play my adventure" pitch blurbs. They have to be short, pithy, relatively accurate, and for games I'll be able and ideally happy to GM in two months' time.
I only have to come up with one game to GM this year, as one of the events this year is IRN GM, in which you get three GURPS setting books at random on Saturday and have to run an adventure using bits of all three on Sunday. So that's my Doctor Who adventure sorted probably...
So I dunno, Buffy or Adventure! or somethin' on Saturday.
While leaving room to play Gar's Primeval demo hopefully. The Laundry game with Charles Stross there will probably be rather busy.

...you know you wanna...
More constructively...
A couple options for both games:
Buffy: Pink Hats.
PC's are chewy extras who figure out they were meant to die had they not been saved by various White Hats in their back story. Cue comedic attempts at becoming heroes, with lots of blood, gore, comedic misunderstandings and the constant paranoid feeling that they're doomed to be cannon fodder (all White Hat group). Inspired by Guy the Extra from Galaxy Quest.
"Guy, you have a name." "Do I!?! DO I!?!"
Adventure!: Long Time Coming.
2012 is approaching, and the world will change. On New Year's Eve, the secret truth of the world will come out, and there is nothing the Secret Masters can do to stop it; Heroes are *real*. Back in the 1930's, masked mystery men and women fought the good fight against the Illuminati, the Golden Order and the League of Killers, and were defeated by a betrayal of one of their own. But one of the heroes had a secret emergency plan; a filled-to-the-brim document cabinet with incontrovertible evidence named the Prometheus Files, to be released to every single news outlet, media purveyor and journalist in the world, exactly 70 years after his death. That day is coming on fast. January 1st, 2012.
PC's are people who received the files ahead of time to help distribute them, chased by agents of the Illuminati and League of Killers (the Golden Order was wiped out by the former two in the second Gulf War). Pulpy action-adventure in a modern action-movie sensibility, and with a potential world-changer event on the agenda.

Date: 2011-01-25 07:26 pm (UTC)The Buffy game could be fun, certainly, although it may lack the heroic crowning moments of awesome that I like in Buffy, or maybe the players will have to make their own.
The Adventure! idea certainly has potential, although it might be series-level potential rather than one-shot potential.
I tend to veer more to normal-ish-for-the-game convention ideas, as I've sen enough games where a vague blurb saying "it's Star Wars" turns out to be "it's a film noir bounty hunter game where you're all out to screw each other over... in Star Wars". But saying the idea's a bit leftfield in advance can help alleviate that, of course.
Re: Shoulder devil
Date: 2011-01-26 03:38 pm (UTC)I did run an Aberrant con-game once where the PC's were pre-gens of somewhat effed-up Novas dragged together for a photo-op for a new T2M section meant to be focused on Northern Europe. Ended with the local Church of Archangel Michael head falling in love with the Mega-Charismatic one, and general chaos and pandemonium due to the PC's not having perfect use of their powers (the supergenius was easily distracted, and decided to restructure local hospitals on a whim, the air elemental guy had about as much fine control as the lead in Greatest American Hero and the super-charisma guy hit on everything that moved, male, female or other). And that was just a quick 2-hour game.
Hmmm.
Other ideas.
A Buffy game in which the PC's are all minor demons trying to get out of town. One of them is a psychopath and just killed a friend of the local Slayer, but nobody knows who. The others are more or less harmless. Game ends with the Slayer getting one of them. Trick is, will it be the right one? Paranoia meets Buffy, basically.
An Adventure! game in which the PC's are former henchmen of a major hero (think the crew of Doc Savage, all heroes in their own right). The hero was killed, they have to a) figure out whodunnit, b) finish the case. It's entirely possible their mentor isn't dead.

Bear in mind that my last Buffy game, for the Sunday morning death slot, was the result of me going "Buffy Versus... um... Godzilla!" and working backwards to make it happen. Complex thought may not be required.
