Harry Potter 6, Aldershot 0.

The Harry Potter books passed the point of "I can't be arsed reading all that" after Azkaban, so I knew the gist of Half-Blood Prince going in but not the specifics.

I didn't know that...

The Half-Blood Prince is by a long way the weakest title-to-content connection of the series. Philospher's Stone? Vital McGuffin of the story. Prisoner of Azkaban? Key character introduced in there. Half-Blood Prince? Forgotten nickname of an established cast member.

The evil "crossing over from their world into ours" would consist of the seemingly motiveless destruction of the Millennium Bridge and nothing else.

Fenrir Greyback was a werewolf from the film, just the making-of.

Luna's Quidditch headdress would be so awesome. (Evanna Lynch designed it herself, adding to suspicions that she's actually Luna escaped from the books rather than an actress.)

What Harry did to Draco in their fight or why he was giving up the book until way later, as it was poorly telegraphed.

The creepy bit in the trailers with the floating screaming girl would be most of her role in the story and not really pay off much at all.

Aurors look like First World War officers.

Wizards like profiteroles.

Jim Broadbent could spend an entire film squinting with one eye shut.

I did know that Draco wouldn't be able to pull the trigger, which is an interesting diversion on the Hero's Journey straight-and-narrow we've been following for six years now.

Trailers: No idea as I missed them due to the Vue's queueing system.

On the whole, passed the time. Nicely shot in lots of ways. Good effects. Great British character actors being able to fund their Ibsen revivals from the proceeds.
